INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGICAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP
OBJECTIVES
This programme promotes an integrated training of managers and entrepreneurs through practical training (hands-on-approach). It is based on solid theoretical concepts and on permanent and professional supervision, which enable the development of skills and knowledge to produce efficient knowledge and innovation management in new businesses. These high potential new businesses may be developed in existing companies or by starting new companies.
This programme offers:
i) integrated training in the processes of innovation and commercialization of technology;
ii) the promotion of the creation of technology-based businesses;
iii) privileged access to the available technology at the University of Porto to start a business;
iv) student orientation based on real cases, during the whole process of starting new businesses;
v) the support of experienced professors and businessmen in the start of a Portuguese or international business;
vi) the integration of diverse valences and competencies in multidisciplinary teams.

- MIETE Team Ranks 2nd in iUP25k, U.Porto Competition for Business Ideas (more information here and here – PT Only). Congratulations to our students Florian Rehm (Germany), Pedro Silva (Portugal) e Richard Ancuta (Denmark).
- COTEC MUDA Prize for the Best Dissertation in the area of Innovation and Entrepreneurship received 75 applications from 57 different programs and 26 universities in Portugal. Out of these, 3 dissertations from MIETE students were ranked among the TOP10. The dissertation by Poliana Pires, although not the winner, was ranked among the TOP 3.
- FRAMIE overall winner of Venture Cup Portugal’s first edition (April 2017) – the project started in the course of Project for Opportunity Identification and Evaluation and developed on Business Construction Project at MIET (University of Porto), was the overall winner of Venture Cup Portugal’s first edition. The national university startup competition final took place on June 30th, at Casa da Música, where 10 finalists had the chance to pitch their business. Framie’s mobile app will enable anyone to complete thematic collections with their own pictures, redesigning the way that we collect and live experiences. The app’s launch is coming this September, and you can sign up for BETA (here) and start collecting the world in a revolutionary way.
- FRAMIE awarded 5.000€ prize at Startup Porto Accelerator #1 (April 2017) – The project started in the course of Project for Opportunity Identification and Evaluation and had its continuity on Business Construction Project at MIET. The team behind Framie, António Lisboa, Cristiano Silva, Filipe Lima, Mónica Leiras and Tiago Monteiro kept working on it after finishing MIETE and were now awarded a 5.000€ prize at Startup Porto Accelerator #1. The app’s beta phase is set to launch on August 2017. (read more in our blog)
