BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
PRODEB, the Doctoral Program in Biomedical Engineering, aims at providing advanced training and specialized knowledge in topics at the state of the art level in multiple areas of Biomedical engineering. The most impactful areas are Biomaterials, tissues regeneration, biomechanics, medical training based on simulation of physiological conditions, simulation of human tissues mechanical behavior, bioimaging, image and signal analysis, and medical devices, designed to support treatment, diagnosis, and follow up in many medical conditions, namely those related to aging, mobility, and illnesses with high social and economic impact.
CAREER PROSPECTS
It is expected that graduates with a PhD in Biomedical engineering might acquire the following capabilities:
– Ability to carry out autonomous scientific research, as well as innovation and development of novel projects, processes, and products in Biomedical Engineering
– Capability to act and entrepreneurial and applied research levels
– Ability to develop public awareness and scientific or technological communication skills
– Team leadership in areas of advanced knowledge in Biomedical Engineering, either academic, industrial, or social.
– Capacity to develop innovative and entrepreneurial activities both regarding the national and international industrial environment or in generating novel technology-driven enterprises and spin-off companies.
