Student visa
To study in Portugal, if you come from a non-EU country, you need to obtain a residence visa for studies at the Portuguese Consulate/Embassy closest to your area of residence. To obtain a student visa, you will need a letter of acceptance from FEUP, which can only be sent after the results of the selection process have been announced. As soon as you have confirmation that you have been accepted to study at FEUP, contact Academic Services to request this letter of acceptance.
Students entering Europe from countries other than Portugal will not have their passports stamped in Portugal, so they will need to complete the Declaration of Entry and hand it in to the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) within 3 working days of arrival. To do this, you will need to make an appointment at one of the AIMA Shops.
All Residence Visa holders must request an appointment with AIMA to apply for a Residence Permit.
For more information, please visit the AIMA website (PT only).
