FEUP participated in the 2nd National Meeting of Higher Education Gender Equality Structures, held on 28 April at the premises of the Escola Superior de Saúde da Atlântica, University Institute. The event brought together representatives from 22 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from across the country.

The meeting was promoted by the Working Group for Gender Equality in Higher Education (GT_IGES) of the Campus Sustainability Network (RCS), and also included the participation of representatives from the Education Statistics Services of DGEEC, the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG), researcher Virgínia Ferreira, and several members of GT_IGES.

💬 Main Topics

Throughout the session, participants reviewed the training activities developed by GT_IGES in collaboration with CIG, as well as reflected on the indicators currently being collected and the challenges related to their further development at national level.

Discussions also focused on the training and capacity-building needs of academic communities in the areas of gender equality, diversity, and inclusion, highlighting the importance of strengthening these skills across higher education institutions.

🤝 FEUP’s participation reflects its institutional commitment to promoting gender equality and fostering inter-institutional collaboration, reinforcing the value of joint initiatives among HEIs to enhance the impact of these cross-cutting actions.

➡️ Next Meeting

Following the rotation strategy among host institutions, the 3rd National Meeting will take place at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), which will celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2027 🎉 and was the first higher education institution in Portugal to publish a gender equality plan.
