To inspire a culture of sustainability, contributing to a better society, through the incorporation of the principles of sustainable development—i.e., development that meets present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs—into the decision-making processes of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) is the mission of the Commission for Sustainability.
FEUP’s sustainability strategy is aligned with the 17 Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 of the United Nations.

A FEUP é, desde 2009, membro da Associação Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges. É, desde 2020, membro fundador do Pacto Para os Plásticos. Ainda em 2020, a FEUP assinou a carta de compromisso com o desenvolvimento sustentável promovida pela Rede Campus Sustentável.
