Introduction To The GreenComp – The European Sustainability Competence Framework

A group of higher education institutions (HEIs) has an ongoing initiative aimed at facilitating the progressive inclusion of themes associated with sustainability in pedagogical practice.

Gathered in what is known as a “Meeting Point” on “Education for sustainability – development of teaching skills and adaptation of curricula”, these HEIs defined a roadmap of actions which they now make available to teachers, researchers, institutions in general and the interested public.

The first action of this itinerary is an online conference under the theme “Introduction To The GreenComp – The European Sustainability Competence Framework”, given by Ulrike Pisiotis , Policy Officer at the European Commission in the area of Education and Learning for Sustainability, co-author of GreenComp (https:/ /publications.jrc.ec.europa.eu/repository/handle/JRC128040).

The conference will take place online, on20 FEBRUARY 2024 | 1:30pm-2:30pm GMT, subject to registration here. The link will be sent automatically after registration.

The HEIs leading this initiative are (in alphabetical order):

Porto Higher School of Nursing, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, Polytechnic Institute of Lisbon, Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, Polytechnic Institute of Viseu, Higher Institute of Education and Sciences – Lisbon, Open University, University da Madeira, University of Lisbon, University of Minho, University of Portucalense.

These HEIs responded to a challenge from the Sustainable Campus Network, exploring the concept of “Meeting Point”, having decided to jointly organize the itinerary that is now beginning, aimed at promoting sustainability in teaching practice.
