VipIMAGE 2007 - I ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing was organized in Porto, Portugal, in October 2007. The challenge of organizing a scientific event on such focused subjects was a considerable success with 10 invited expertise lecturers, 44 oral presentations distributed by 13 sessions and 20 posters in a total of 75 participants from 16 countries (from Europe, Asia and America) representing academia, research institutes, medical centers and industry.


The proceedings book of VipIMAGE 2007 was published by Taylor & Francis Group (Proceedings of the I ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing: VipIMAGE 2007, Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, Porto, Portugal, 17-19 October 2007, Editors: João Manuel R.S. Additionally, it was edited and published a book under the series “Computational Methods in Applied Sciences” of Springer was edited and published with 16 invited works from the most important ones presented in VipIMAGE 2007 (Advances in Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing: Methods and Applications, Series: Computational Methods in Applied Sciences, Vol. 13, Editors: João Manuel R. S. Tavares, R. M. Natal Jorge, ISBN: 1402090854, Publication Date: December 2008, Pages: 296).












The same organizer committee organized in Porto, Portugal, in October 2009, the VipIMAGE 2009 - II ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing. Once more, the challenge of organizing a scientific event on such focused subjects was successfully achieved: VipIMAGE 2009 had 6 invited expertise lecturers, 64 oral presentations distributed by 18 sessions (10 generic and 8 thematic sessions) and 17 posters in a total of 95 participants from 20 countries (from Europe, Asia and America) representing academia, research institutes, medical centers and industry.


Five thematic sessions were organized under the auspicious of VipIMAGE 2009
:
1) Computer Vision in Robotics,
2) Imaging of Biological Flows: Trends and Challenges,
3) Processing and Classification of Satellite Imagery,
4) Small Animal Imaging: Trends and Techniques, and
5) Texture Image Analysis: Methods and Applications.


The proceedings book of VipIMAGE 2009 was also published by Taylor & Francis Group (Proceedings of the II ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing: VipIMAGE 2009, Faculdade de Engenharia da Universidade do Porto, Porto, Portugal, 14-16 October 2009, Editors: João Manuel R.S. In October 2011, the VipIMAGE 2011 - III ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing was organized in Olhão, Algarve, Portugal. This third edition of VipIMAGE 2011 was also a success, with 6 invited expertise lecturers, 64 oral presentations distributed by 18 sessions (12 generic and 6 thematic sessions) and 15 posters, and around 100 participants from 16 countries.


Six thematic sessions were organized under the auspicious of VipIMAGE 2011:
1) Imaging Techniques Applied to Soft Tissue Biomechanics,
2) Simultaneous MR-PET Imaging,
3) Satellite Image Analysis for Environmental Risk Assessment,
4) Dental Imaging and Processing Techniques,
5) Digital Mammography, and
6) Imaging of Biological Flows: Trends and Challenges.


The proceedings book of VipIMAGE 2011 was also published by Taylor & Francis Group (Proceedings of the III ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing: VipIMAGE 2011, Olhão, Portugal, 14-14 October 2011, Editors: João Manuel R.S. VipIMAGE 2013 - IV ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing was organized by the same organizer committee in Madeira, Portugal, in October 2013. The challenge of organizing a scientific event on such focused subjects was again completely achieved: VipIMAGE 2013 had 4 invited expertise lecturers, 74 oral presentations distributed by 18 sessions (13 generic and 5 thematic sessions) in a total of 85 participants from 17 countries (from Europe, Asia and America) representing academia, research institutes, medical centers and industry.


The thematic sessions organized under the auspicious of VipIMAGE 2013 were:
1) Imaging of Biological Flows: Trends and Challenges,
2) Trabecular Bone Characterization: New trends and challenges, and
3) Computational Vision and Image Processing applied to Dental Medicine.

VipIMAGE 2015 - V ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing was organized again by the same organizer committee in Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain, in October 2015. The challenge of organizing a scientific event on such focused topics was again reached: VipIMAGE 2015 had 5 invited lectures, and 50 contributed presentations originated from 19 countries: Algeria, Brazil, China, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, The United Kingdom, The United States of America and Turkey, representing academia, research institutes, medical centers and industry.


The proceedings book of VipIMAGE 2015 was one more time published by Taylor & Francis Group (Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing V, Proceedings of the 5th ECCOMAS Thematic Conference on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing - VipIMAGE 2015: Tenerife, Spain, 19-21 October 2015, Editors: João Manuel R.S.
