BIN@TALLINN 2024 ‘Deep-tech Innovation Ecosystems: the Role of HEIs’ (mid-term event, 15 – 16 May)
ABOUT
BIN@TALLINN 2024 mid-term event (Tallinn, Estonia, 15-16 May), organised by TTK University of Applied Sciences, was embedded in the activities of the EIT HEI Initiative project DEEP INVENTHEI – INnoVation and ENTrepreneurship in HEIs and of the international open innovation platform Business & Innovation Network (BIN@). In addition to the audience coming from the local Estonian innovation ecosystem, the event also counted with the participation of representatives from various universities and companies from the UK, Romania, Portugal, Ukraine, Czechia, Poland, Sweden and Italy.
BIN@TALLINN 2024 offered a venue for researchers, academics, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, ideas and experiences. The event was also open for students interested in entrepreneurship and technological innovation topics.
This one-and-a-half day event held in store keynote speeches, panel discussions (Action Tanks) and examples of several startup journeys, through which participants were exposed to valuable insights on developing vibrant innovation ecosystems and the key role of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in this process. The event started by first contextualising the local innovation ecosystem of Estonia, followed up by a comparative approach to different paths to choose from to accelerate R&D to successful businesses (followed in different countries). There were also other gripping speeches and panels on circular innovation, tech transfer, entrepreneurship education, innovation in product and service design, challenge-based learning and innovation-driven research as well as inspiring startup stories.
