As an open innovation network, we are extremely proud for our first and one of a kind undertaking that results from the contributions made during our annual event BIN@PORTO 2021. Here it is, final and consolidated takeaway from this event, White Paper ‘Building Block for the Future’.

In this document, you can find the reflections of invited specialist who contributed with their expertise and experience to each thematic pillar of the event, Society – Circularity – Health & Well-being.

We are deeply grateful to everyone that were involved in this process. First and foremost, our sincere gratitude and credits go to the experts whose knowledge and years of work at their respective fields was paramount to the very existence of this paper : Leonardo Ortega (Enterprise Estonia), Robert Krimmer (University of Tartu), Glenn Cezanne (Time & Place Consulting, CharIN e.V.), Violeta Bulc (Ecocivilisation), Beatriz Luz (Exchange 4 Change Brazil), Ladeja Košir (Circular Change), Ana Barros (Fraunhofer Portugal AICOS), Terry Huang (CUNY, Firefly Innovation) and João Transmontano (Entogenex Europe). We also pass on our gratitude to the creativity and innovation studio Everythink (Júlio Martins, João Petiz and their team) for being behind and delivering so well on the whole ‘architecture’ of this document (from interviews with invited speakers, to design and compilation of the paper). Our appreciation also extends to Carlos Oliveira (FEUP) who made sure that the ideas and topics presented under various pillars make up a holistic and organic ensemble, able to demonstrate the connecting points between the themes covered, reflecting, thus, the interconnectedness of our human existence on this planet. This White Paper also owes greatly to Pedro Coelho (FEUP, BIN@ coordinator) whose initiation, drive and involvement in all the phases of this venture was fundamental for its realisation.
