About Well ‘ come

The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) is preparing to welcome the new student community with Well’come Weeks, a programme which, between 9 and 26 September, brings together in a single calendar a range of activities aimed at undergraduate, master’s and PhD students, international exchange students, and the wider academic community of lecturers, researchers, support staff and alumni.

More than just a welcome event, the new Well’come Weeks aim to highlight the importance of academic wellbeing – the mental, emotional and physical balance that helps students thrive, manage stress, maintain a positive attitude and build meaningful relationships throughout their academic journey.

The initiatives include welcome sessions, guided campus tours, cultural and social events, as well as activities promoting intercultural integration. New international students will be able to take part in the Intercultural Contact Point, a session on Portuguese culture and language, and ‘Survival Tips’ for life at FEUP and in Porto. The programme also includes a picnic in Asprela Park and concludes with a Porto City Tour.

On 14 September, it is the turn of undergraduate students to attend their welcome session and a tour of the campus, whilst their families can attend an information session on 15 September, specially designed to support them. Also on the 15th and 16th, the FEUP/U.Porto Extracurricular Activities Fair will take place, organised by AEFEUP with the support of the Events Centre.

Master’s students have a campus tour and the ‘Well’Come Time: Chill & Connect’ session scheduled for 18 September, featuring an official reception followed by a relaxed outdoor get-together.

The programme also includes other initiatives such as a guided tour of UPTEC – the University of Porto Science and Technology Park (23 September) and the ‘Music at Asprela’ (15 September) and ‘Cinema at Asprela’ (24 September) events, the latter organised as part of the Asprela IN – Life & Culture Lab project, of which FEUP is a partner.

By bringing all these initiatives together in a single programme, FEUP aims to bring the academic community closer together and create opportunities to integrate all those arriving on campus for the first time, regardless of their field of study or background.
