President of the Portuguese Order of Engineers
Eng. Fernando de Almeida e Santos
Fernando Manuel de Almeida Santos is the current President (“Bastonário”) of the Portuguese Order of Engineers (2022–2025) and served as the National Vice President of the Order until 2022. He previously held the positions of President (2010–2016) and Secretary (2004–2010) of the Northern Regional Board, as well as District Delegate (2001–2004) and Deputy Delegate (1997–2001) of the Braga District Delegation.
He graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Minho (UM) in 1991 and earned a Master’s degree in Construction and Real Estate Management. He also specialized in Construction Safety Management and Coordination at Instituto Superior Técnico (IST).
He is the founder and CEO of TABIQUE, a civil engineering services company specializing in Project Management, Supervision, Safety and Environmental Coordination. Between 2003 and 2010, he was a guest lecturer in Construction Management courses at UM, IC-FEUP, and FUNDEC-IST, and from 2009 to 2018, he lectured in the Master’s program in Integrated Management of Environment, Quality, and Safety at IPCA. At the beginning of his career, he worked as a senior engineer at the construction company ENGIL from 1991 to 2000.
