From December 9–11, 2024, the InnovAntiBiofilm project held a three-day event featuring the inaugural workshop “Plant-based Molecules for Biofilm Control” and an expert visit from Dr. Lillian Barros and Dr. Darla Goeres.
The workshop on December 9 gathered researchers, students, and distinguished speakers, including Prof. Manuel Simões, Prof. Stefan Schillberg, and Dr. Anabela Borges, to discuss cutting-edge strategies for biofilm control using plant-based molecules. Dr. Barros and Dr. Goeres shared their expertise on natural product research and standardized biofilm methods, offering insights into bridging research and market applications. Young researchers also showcased their innovative work in engaging presentations.
Over the following days, Dr. Barros and Dr. Goeres collaborated with the InnovAntiBiofilm team, discussing strategies to enhance collaboration, improve communication, and define success metrics for impactful biofilm research.
This three-day event underscored the importance of knowledge exchange and collaboration in tackling biofilm-related challenges, setting the stage for future advancements. A heartfelt thank you to all participants for making this event a success!
