On 23rd October, members of the InnovAntiBiofilm consortium actively participated in the Action Tank titled “Antimicrobial Resistance: Sustainable Solutions for a Global Threat” at BIN@Porto 2024.

This session, moderated by our Project coordinator, Prof. Manuel Simões from FEUP, focused on addressing the pressing issue of antibiotic resistance.

This Action Tank brought together experts from diverse fields, including Stefan Schillberg from Fraunhofer IME, Jean-Christophe Cintrat from CEA, João Transmontano from Finao Bioetch, and Olívia Rocha from KPMG.

Panelists discussed innovative chemical and biotechnological approaches, as well as entrepreneurial strategies, to develop sustainable solutions against antimicrobial resistance. With no new antibiotics approved by the FDA since 2019, the need for collaborative efforts to combat this crisis is more urgent than ever.

The InnovAntiBiofilm consortium is committed to contributing to these discussions and exploring effective actions to address the challenges posed by resistant bacterial infections. The insights gained from this Action Tank will help inform the consortium’s ongoing efforts in developing impactful strategies over the course of the project.
