What is your current professional position? How did you get here?
My professional position is essentially that of Functional Consultant, implementing ERP Sage X3 in the area of Distribution, Logistics and Stocks in medium/large enterprises. My professional career began just before graduation, so I have always been a student-worker. At that stage I worked in restaurants, retail (Worten and Lightning Bolt) and in the multinational IKEA.
During my master’s I did an internship at Centro Hospitalar de São João and stayed there for another year.
Finally, I started my career in the company where I currently work XPLOR Business Solutions, obtaining international work experience, passing through Brazil, Spain, France and the UK.
How did MCI contribute to your professional path?
A bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Information Science were fundamental to my professional path. They opened up to me a range of perspectives and opportunities hitherto unknown. The technical profile and oriented towards soft skills that we develop in Information Science allows us to fill an existing space within IT (information technologies). The space I am referring to is between the programmer with great technical skills and the customer with operational needs. The master’s and the degree prepared me to be that link, where the ability to understand the business, processes and operation is essential, but also its correct technical transcription, through requirements gathering documents, with UML language, for example .This was a perception I had after entering the specialized job market.
Given your experience, would you recommend MCI to anyone who wants to be a professional in the field of Information Management? Why would you recommend it?
The academic training in Information Science was one of the best experiences of my life, I had the opportunity to contact and meet extraordinary people, teachers, course colleagues and even from different courses. The university environment at UP is a fantastic stimulus and in particular the MCI allowed me to put into practice some technical knowledge and develop a very rewarding project at São João Hospital, related to the creation of a database for management of work accidents. I was able to have close contact with real problems and be involved in their solution, which for me was a great asset. In summary, I would naturally recommend MCI to anyone interested in information management; it will be a very well spent effort with great prospects of return.
