The Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) promoted the 2021 edition of FEUP’s Day on January 13, via an online ceremony focused on highlighting the 184 years of engineering education in Porto.
The FEUP’s Day programme included the recognition of business partnerships, tributes and performance awards to members of the institution. It is important to mention that Ana Camanho, researcher at the Centre for Industrial Engineering and Management (CEGI), received the Pedagogical Excellence and the Pedagogical Recognition awards.
As an author of more than 50 articles, published in reviewed international journals (ISI), namely in the field of management sciences, Ana Camanho stood out for her work in the field of Operational Research, focusing on the development of models for evaluating efficiency and evolution of productivity, using the Data Envelopment Analysis technique. The current director of the Integrated Master in Engineering and Industrial Management at FEUP has also been involved in research projects, mainly in the fields of banking, fishery, education, health, transportation, retail, construction and mining industries, corporate social responsibility, quality of life and sustainability of countries and cities.
In addition to Ana Camanho, another 18 INESC TEC researchers distinguished themselves for their teaching and research activities in higher education over the last year. See the full list of researchers below.
It is also important to highlight the award given to Ricardo Cruz, researcher at the Centre for Telecommunications and Multimedia, who won FEUP Competition More Sustainable Ideas (Most Sustainable Idea of 2020). Ricardo introduced a Wake-on-LAN (WoL) solution, which allows each member of the community to turn their computers on and off from home.
Regarding the business partnerships (FEUP Prime), FEUP acknowledged LTP Labs, an INESC TEC spin-off established in 2015 by three INESC TEC researchers and FEUP professors: Pedro Amorim, Bernardo Almada-Lobo and Luís Guimarães.
FEUP’s Day is celebrated annually, aiming at strengthening FEUP’s DNA by acknowledging and valuing the success of the most outstanding members of the Community, and companies with more active partnerships with the Faculty of Engineering.
