{"id":3358,"date":"2026-03-17T09:42:16","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T09:42:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/fe.up.pt\/sustent\/en\/?p=3358"},"modified":"2026-03-17T09:42:16","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T09:42:16","slug":"webinar-portuguese-plastics-pact","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/fe.up.pt\/sustent\/en\/webinar-portuguese-plastics-pact\/","title":{"rendered":"Webinar Portuguese Plastics Pact"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"noticia\">\n<h2>Webinar on the new Deposit and Return System (DRS) \u2013 \u201cVolta\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>Within the framework of the <strong>Portuguese Plastics Pact<\/strong> and its commitment to promoting solutions that enhance packaging circularity and reduce waste, a webinar dedicated to the new <strong>Deposit and Return System (DRS)<\/strong>, known as <strong>\u201cVolta\u201d<\/strong>, will take place on <strong>27 March at 11:00<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The DRS will come into force in Portugal on <strong>10 April<\/strong> and represents an important step towards increasing selective collection and recycling rates for beverage packaging, by encouraging consumers to return packaging after use.<\/p>\n<p>The webinar will feature <strong>SDR Portugal<\/strong>, the entity responsible for the implementation and management of the system, which will present how the DRS operates, its main objectives and expected impacts, as well as the implementation timeline and the role of different stakeholders across the value chain.<\/p>\n<p>The session will also include a <strong>roundtable discussion<\/strong> with representatives from <strong>Coca-Cola<\/strong>, <strong>Jer\u00f3nimo Martins<\/strong>, and <strong>APIAM \u2013 Portuguese Association of Mineral and Spring Waters | PROBEB \u2013 Portuguese Association of Non-Alcoholic Beverages<\/strong>, who will share their perspectives on the preparation for this new system, as well as the challenges and opportunities identified and the role of different operators in the value chain.<\/p>\n<p>This will be an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of this new system, clarify questions, and reflect on the implications and opportunities it represents for Pact members.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Participation is free.
