Welcome to the web site of the 1st International Conference on Science and Technology Education STE 2020. The 1st International Conference on Science and Technology Education STE 2020 will take place in Porto, Portugal, 15-16 October 2020. The conference venue is the campus of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), which offers excellent facilities for high quality scientific interactions. FEUP is located in the town of Porto in the Northern region of Portugal. Porto is a beautiful and lively city, steeped in history and rich in great experiences. With its magnificent location by the Atlantic coast, Porto is the city of the world famous Port Wine and the River Douro.
The conference is co-chaired by António Ferreira (University of Porto, Portugal), Lucas F. M. da Silva (University of Porto, Portugal) and Claudio R. Brito (COPEC, Brazil). The Science and Education Research Organization (COPEC) and the International Institute of Education (IIE) support this conference. The focus is on education in science and technology. The conference will provide an international forum for the sharing, dissemination and discussion of research, experience and perspectives across a wide range of teaching and learning issues. The conference welcomes abstracts/papers related to the following topics:
- science and technology epistemologies (what makes science and technology thinking and knowledge),
- science and technology learning mechanisms (how people develop knowledge and competencies),
- science and technology learning systems (institutional practices),
- science and technology diversity and inclusiveness (how society in general contributes to science and technology processes and products), and
- science and technology assessment (development and use of assessment methods, instruments, and metrics).

Cancellation Policy
In case of cancellation, a written notification should be sent to the conference chairman. If it is received prior to June 26th, 2020, registration fees will be refunded with a deduction of €75. No refund can be made after June 26th, 2020.

Conference proceedings (cd-rom) with the accepted abstracts will be available at the registration. The cd-rom will have an ISBN number.
The full papers will be considered for publication in special issues of International Journal of Mechanical Engineering Education (SAGE), Education Sciences (MDPI, no fees involved) and U.P. Journal of Engineering (University of Porto) (provided they meet the journals standard).
The full papers (not compulsory) should be sent to the e-mail lucas@fe.up.pt before the 8th of October 2020. The text should be in single column format and double line spacing.
The book of abstracts (cd-rom) with the accepted abstracts available at the registration. The book of abstracts can also be downloaded with a password.
The poster size must be maximum A0 (841 mm x 1189 mm) in portrait (see sample image). The text and illustrations should be readable from a distance of two meters. Tacks and technical equipment for the hanging of posters will be available. Please check the conference final program for the poster board number assigned to you. Your poster should be displayed as per the number in the program.
