Our research group recently participated in the Fourth Conference of Computational Methods and Ocean Technology (COTech 2023) held at the Universitetet i Stavanger (UiS), Norway. Delving into ocean and offshore-related engineering, numerical computation approach not only fosters innovative ideas but has become the go-to solution for tackling complex engineering challenges in harsh environments.
Key highlights include José A.F.O. Correia’s keynote lecture, where he shared insights on “Promoting Multiscale Fatigue to Design Reliable and Sustainable Structures”, and his moderation of a parallel session. Additionally, Professor José A.F.O. Correia was honored with the prestigious Philo Mecanicus award in recognition of his significant contributions to the field of structural integrity.
Further, Paulo Mendes presented a work entitled “Reliability Local Fatigue Design Challenges of Transition Pieces from Decommissioned Platforms for Offshore Wind Energy” alongside Carlos Souto, Taemin Heo, Nicholas Fantuzzi, Lance Manuel and José A.F.O. Correia.
We extend our gratitude to the COTech organization, particularly to Professor Sudath C. Siriwardane and Professor Dimitrios Pavlou, for their warm hospitality. We look forward to returning the favor in the future and hope to welcome you to Porto. Thank you for making COTech 2023 a truly memorable experience!
