Neurodiversity is a reality present in all educational institutions, and the University of Porto is no exception.
This project arises from the growing need to adapt higher education to the specific needs of neurodivergent students, taking into account the many barriers they face and the accommodations they require to progress and succeed in completing their academic journey.
The objectives of this project are:
- To inform about the characteristics and challenges associated with students with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Reading and Writing Learning Disorder (commonly known as Dyslexia), or Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD);
- To deconstruct prejudices, facilitate understanding, and promote a culture of respect;
- To share strategies and best practices for inclusion in teaching and assessment activities;
- To promote the integration of neurodivergent students, faculty, researchers, and staff;
- To foster inclusion in teaching, research, and academic life;
- To promote the well-being of the neurodivergent community in higher education.
