The components,<br>located in Portugal, were designed and built over a period of six decades,<br>spanning the second half of the twentieth century. Each has strong individual<br>characteristics, presenting a specific aspect or facet of Siza\u2019s architecture,<br>while responding to a set of attributes that express OUV. The nomination process is coordinated by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, which is one of the buildings selected for the serail nomination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Technical Visit B &#8211; Porto Downtown Historical Heritage \u2013 Structural Monitoring During Underground Excavation Works<\/strong><br>(Coordinator: Ant\u00f3nio Ar\u00eade)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"220\" class=\"wp-image-312\" style=\"width: 300px;\" src=\"https:\/\/paginas.fe.up.pt\/~ebse\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/clerigos.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fe.up.pt\/ebse\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/clerigos.png 488w, https:\/\/fe.up.pt\/ebse\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/clerigos-300x220.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>   <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"209\" class=\"wp-image-313\" style=\"width: 300px;\" src=\"https:\/\/paginas.fe.up.pt\/~ebse\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/sbento.png\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fe.up.pt\/ebse\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/sbento.png 488w, https:\/\/fe.up.pt\/ebse\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/sbento-300x209.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Porto Metro service is presently expanding the existing light rail network. Part of that expansion, namely the new Pink Line, which will connect \u201cCasa da M\u00fasica\u201d (Music Hall in Boavista zone) to the S\u00e3o Bento train station, is fully made underground and at least half its extension runs underneath important historical heritage-built assets in Porto downtown. Upon request of Porto Metro stakeholder to FEUP, a set of historical masterpieces are being structurally monitored to identify possible issues and effects due to underground excavation works. This includes two iconic Porto buildings, namely the Cl\u00e9rigos Church-Museum-Tower and the S\u00e3o Bento train station, where possible settlements, rotations, vibrations, and crack-openings are being continuously measured by dozens of sensors. The results are online transmitted to FEUP and available through a dedicated digital platform. The technical visit to these two buildings will show the critical zones under observation and the challenges inherent in the installation of monitoring systems in these invaluable cultural heritage icons.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Detailed Programme: download HERE.
