The Rocinha Cinema Academy is an initiative created by the residents of Brazil’s largest favela. Its goal is to develop local talent. Since its inauguration in December 2023, the ACR has already impacted the lives of 1,500 people. Through in-person audiovisual courses and cineclubs featuring debates on human rights, racism, sustainability, and other topics, the academy is already making a significant difference in the Brazilian audiovisual sector. Operating within an inclusive ecosystem, the academy inspires budding filmmakers and attracts professionals from the industry. Our first cohort continues to produce their initial short films, showcasing the immense potential and creativity within the community.
