Joana Resende | University of Porto (U.PORTO)

Joana Resende is the Vice-Rector of University of Porto for Strategic Planning, Knowledge Valorization and Entrepreneurship. She is also a Full Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Management of U.Porto. She is the President of U.Porto Science and Technology Park (UPTEC) and the local coordinator of the European Alliance for Global Health (EUGLOH) at University of Porto. She is also a member of the General Council of INESC-TEC (Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science). From 2017-2020, she was a member of the Board of Directors of Cef-up (Center for Economics and Finance at University of Porto). She holds a PhD in Economics and Management Science from Université Catholique de Louvain (joint degree with U.Porto). Her main research areas are industrial organization and digital economics.

The meeting point to welcome the international delegates and guests will be at the Praça de Gomes Teixeira, one of the central squares (praça) in the city centre where also the Rectorate building of the University of Porto is situated. Right next to it, you have the most beautiful bookstore in the world, Livraria Lello, where we shall also take our guests to. Livraria Lello is a truly beuatiful bookstore with an exciting history and myths involved and has become a landmark for anyone visiting Porto. The evening shall culminate with a reception at the Rectorate building, at one of its spaces dedicated to events, art and culture, ‘Casa Comum’.

Musical performance by Talita Cayolla

Talita Cayolla is the name of the vocalist and also the Porto-based band. Behind the drums is Marco Jung, responsible for bass José Carlos Nogueira, guitar and bass are mastered by Rui Silva and guitar by João Cardoso. The musical group absorbs inspiration from the tunes of pop, soul and blues.

Josefina is a Chilean multidisciplinary artist based in Porto who experiments primarily with Cuban rhythms, gradually incorporating Spanish, Brazilian, American and African beats.
